FAQs

  • Therapy works best when sessions are regular. For new clients, we’ll meet weekly for at least the first six sessions to build momentum, trust, and progress. After that, we’ll reassess and adjust the schedule as needed.

  • Advance & Late Cancellations

    • Up to 6 cancellations per calendar year without charge if you provide at least 72 business hours’ notice (Monday–Friday).

    • Fewer than 72 hours’ notice: full session fee (except in the most serious emergencies).

    • Insurance will not cover cancellation fees.

    • After 6 cancellations in a year, the full fee will be charged for any additional missed sessions—even with 72 hours’ notice.

    Last-Minute Cancellations

Reserved for true emergencies only (e.g., sudden illness, injury, death in the family).
If these happen repeatedly, even with the fee paid, I’ll reach out to discuss whether our schedule is still the best fit. In some cases, services may end—but always after a conversation.

Not considered emergencies: changing your mind, forgetting the appointment, schedule/work conflicts, school meetings, traffic, parking issues, or mild headaches.

    No-Call, No-Show

    • Missed sessions without notice: full session fee (non-reimbursable by insurance).

    • Two consecutive no-shows without contact: I will assume you wish to stop therapy and will close your case.
If you’re struggling to attend, please reach out—we can explore options.

  • Your privacy is protected by law. Information will only be shared with your written consent, except in the following cases:

    1. Risk of harm to yourself

    2. Risk of harm to others

    3. Suspected child abuse or neglect

Whenever possible, I will discuss any necessary disclosures with you before contacting others.

  • I’m not always immediately available by phone. You can leave a voicemail, send a secure message, or email. I aim to respond within 48 hours (business days).

    • Go to your nearest emergency room and ask for the psychiatrist on call

  • Email may be used for administrative or limited clinical matters. Please note that email is not a fully secure form of communication.

    • Up to 10 minutes late: just join, no need to call.

    • More than 15 minutes late: please email/text to let me know; session still ends at the scheduled time, and full fee applies.

    • Over 15 minutes late without contact: considered a no-show.

    • I have only a few sliding scale spots. If one is available, you must fill out an application to set the fee.
